Visa Iran.informations visa Iran
Visa: A passport -- valid for at least six months beyond the anticipated visit -- and a visa are required of most visitors. Possession of a return travel ticket is also required. Nationals from Bosnia-Herzegovina, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey are not required to have a visa if the intended stay does not exceed six months. Transit passengers re-embarking within 24 hours are also exempt, provided they are holding onward or return verification and are not leaving the airport. Obtaining visas can prove tricky unless you hail from Slovenia, Macedonia, Japan, Turkey, or Singapore. Business visa applications must be accompanied by a letter of invitation from the sponsoring company in Iran; this will in turn be submitted to the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs for authorization. Visitors must procure all visas in advance. Allow at least a four-week lead time, with the exception of Pilgrimage visas, which may take only two weeks. However, once inside Iran, it is comparatively easy to get an extension directly from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Tehran on any type of visa. Note: Nationals of Israel will not be allowed entry under any circumstances. Women who are determined to be dressed immodestly will also be refused entry. A Note to Americans The U.S. does not have diplomatic relations with Iran. American citizens of Iranian origin, who are considered to be Iranian citizens, have been detained and harassed by Iranian authorities.
